Treviso TV
The Church of San Francesco in Treviso is a building constructed between 1230 and 1270, at the behest of Pope Innocent III thanks to the notable Municipal donations as well as those from the aristocracy of Treviso. The time of realisation between the Romanesque and Gothic periods, is clearly visible in some architectural elements present on the building: Romanesque elements are mixed with Gothic elements. inside the church of San Francesco reflects the austere style of other Romanesque-Gothic churches of Treviso; the ceiling is wood paneled and the floor tiled. The structure is in brick both internally and externally using a Latin cross floor plan. Among the most prestigious works one can admire ëThe Madonna and Saintsí by Tomaso da Modena (1360). Inside the church, there are the tombs of Francesca Petrarca, daughter of the poet Francesco Petrarca, who died in Treviso in 1384 and Peter, the son of the poet Dante Alighieri.
