Treviso | Saint 40’s door (Porta Santi Quaranta)

Porta Santi Quaranta was built in the same period of Porta San Tomaso and is access to Treviso for those coming from the west. Above the central arch of Porta Santi Quaranta you read the inscription indicating the name of the port: Latin for those leaving Treviso "Porta Sanctorum Quadraginta" and in dialect for those who enter "Porta Sancti Forty", to mark the difference between the 'aristocratic center and the countryside outside the walls.
