The railroad Treviso-Ostiglia was long 118 kilometers. Its construction was conceived, for strategic purposes from Italian Army; in order to be able to quickly deploy the troops in case of war against Austria-Hungary.It was agreed that the new railway would connect the Ostiglia Station, in the province of Mantova, with Treviso Central Station. The project was suspended by the outbreak of the First World War. In the twenties they undertook the work for the construction of the railway that ended only in the early forties. In its full extension, the railway line had a short life, since it was heavily bombed by the allies in 1944. Today it has been transformed into a busy pedestrian and cycle track, thanks to a project of the Province of Padua and Treviso.
