The first mention of a chapel of St. Martin in Vedelago dates from 1297. The St. Martin church was damaged in 1681, so that a new building was needed. In 1695, an earthquake struck the area and also the church suffered damage. In 1717 it was decided to erect a new church designed by Giorgio Massari (Venice 1686-1766). In 1730 the church was enriched and decorated, while between 1766 and 1769 it was enlarged and decorated with a fresco painted on the ceiling, representing Saint Martin, Justin Menascardi. Between 1925 and 1927 the old parish church was demolished to make way for the new church of Candiani and Vettorazzo architects.
