Nervesa della Battaglia | Shrine of Francesco Baracca

Born in 1888, this cavalry officer became an ace of the skies, achieving the first aerial victory in the history of the Italian Air Force and accumulating over 34 victories, a feat that earned him the Gold Medal for Military Valour.
Baracca is remembered not only for his heroism on the front (he died in mysterious circumstances in 1918), but above all for the symbol he carried on his aircraft: the legendary Prancing Horse.
